The Military Dog

Today, I accidentally hear a word via soldiers who participated in Civil Disobedience Moment. “Yeah, we did it. But, we got irritated too much for the word “the military dog” when we were in service. We wondered why all of people are called like that.

         In my point of view, dogs are the most loyal animals to their respective master. In the same way, soldiers are too much loyal to their military, they regard it as their only one master.

        I want to tell a story concerning the loyalty.

        There is a monastery in a village. Moreover, there’s is a dog bred in this monastery. A little student monk has to feed this dog daily as a duty. He used to feed the remnants of the meal from the offerings of food the presiding monk accepted. After his respected monk had had the lunch, he had the left food and then it came the dog’s turn with leftover food. As the dog is a kind of animal, it only knew that the monk student always fed it and so automatically recognized him as his master with animal knowledge. It didn’t know its meal came from the offerings food of the monk.

          One day, the monk student made a mistake and the monk caned him as a purnishment. The dog thought that the monk was fighting his master and then it started biting the presiding monk. The monk seriously wounded and took a rest in the bed. Thus, the monk student took care of all chores of his monk. So, he had no time to feed the dog and to take care   of it. As a result of it, the dog died of starving.

           In the same way, those who serve in the military do not know who their real masters are. Morever, they think the military is feeding them and so they should recognize the military as their master like the dog in the story.

          They forget their real master, the public and they think only the feeding Military is their master as well as they fight cruelly the public. They have no idea where their salary and rice for their family come from. Besides, they regard easily the military feeding the leftover food as their master. Actually,the military was born for protecting the civilians, not for deeply insulting and bullying simple and honest people.

       Like the dog insulting the real master, they also do to the public, their real master.

Can you starve and die like the dog in the story?
